In my opinion, SMA Grinston and his esteemed PAO imparted deeper and more meaningful changes to the force than SMA Dailey did. SMA Grinston and his PAO embodied every one of their programs and policy changes put in place. SMA Weimer just took the helm, following two extremely popular SMA’s back to back. My VA compensation is a couple steps above dog shit. Because of the laws, I am not eligible for Concurrent Retirement & Disability Pay (CDRP). The PAO for the SMA is an enlisted Soldier whose position is to do PAO things for the SMA and Army in general. They decided to use their position to help out Soldiers where they can (mostly by putting Soldiers in contact with leadership that can help them) and they shouldn’t be a hotline for things like this. ...SMA office has never tried to dictate or ask for any sort of special considerations, and always discusses efforts on sub to gauge their appropriateness. Frankly, I shudder to think what happens post the current SMA and PAO.
This is my 3rd NCOER that has a rating of qualified. My last NCOER had me rated 1 of 2 by my rater but the SR put qualified. With both NCOERs the SRs and raters were doing annual NCOERs and were only part of the rating period for 3-4 months out of the entire year of the rating period.
